Available in Graphic Blast® raised 1/32" MP Plastic for ADA compliance. Also available in Graphic Blast® engraved MP Plastic, or metals such as brass or bronze. Inserts are removable from the top or sides depending upon type. Specify CR for window to the right; CL for window to the left. Use CLR for windows at each side of text. Inserts may be made of 1/16" ES Plastic for engraving, white matte ES Plastic writing surface, or clear plastic overlays for paper inserts (not provided); specify when ordering. Custom sizes, number of windows and different typestyles are available. Allow minimum 1/2" border between windows and around outside edges.

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. This section includes the following:
Changeable Message signs.
Products supplied in this section are to be installed by others.

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's descriptive literature and specifications, including color samples of material for selection, as applicable for approval.

B. Submit shop drawings listing sign styles, lettering and locations, and overall dimensions of each sign.

C. Submit full size sample sign of type, style and color specified including method of attachment.

D. Manufacturers must submit 3 references showing comparable products for projects completed within the last 5 years.

E. Submit manufacturer's standard warranty information.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURER

2.02 FABRICATION

A. Raised Plastic Signs: Signs shall be of the three-in-one construction style having the following characteristics:
Tactile characters/symbols shall be raised 1/32" from sign plate face. Signs shall be of one-piece construction; added-on and/or engraved characters are unacceptable.
Text shall be accompanied by Grade 2 Braille.
All letters, numbers and/or symbols shall contrast with their background - either light characters on a dark background or dark characters on a light background. Characters and background shall have matte finish.

B. Plaque material shall consist of melamine plastic laminate, approximately 1/8" or 1/4" thick, with core painted a contrasting color and rated non-static, fire-retardant and self-extinguishing. Plastic laminate will be impervious to most acids, alkalies, alcohol, solvents, abrasives and boiling water.

C. Lettering style shall be Helvetica Medium, upper case, or other sans serif or simple serif typeface.

D. Sizes of letters and numbers shall be as follows:
Room numbers shall be 3/4" high [or specify height].
Lettering for room name shall be 5/8" high [or specify height].

E. Letters and numbers shall be centered [or specify location] on sign.

F. Grade 2 Braille shall be placed directly below or to the right of copy [or specify location].

G. Corners shall have 1/2" radius [or specify corner style].

H. Cutouts [specify number and size, allow minimum 1/2" border between windows and around outside edges].

I. Backplate of .030 Lexan® attached to back required if mounting is other than holes and screws.

J. Inserts shall be of 1/16" ES Plastic [specify removable from top or sides] with copy engraved to core [or specify insert type]. Optional Lexan® cover for inserts available.

K. Sign sizes:
Room number with 2 cutouts shall be 6" x 6" [or specify size].
Room name and number with 1 cutout shall be 6" x 6" [or specify size].
Room number with 3 cutouts shall be 6" x 8-1/2" [or specify size].
Room name with 1 cutout shall be 8" x 6" [or specify size].
Room number with 2 photo cutouts and 2 name cutouts shall be 14" x 6" [or specify size].

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. General: Locate sign units and accessories where indicated, using mounting methods of the type described and in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Install signs level, plumb, and at heights indicated.

B. Mount using methods indicated below [specify method below].
Vinyl foam tape.
Holes and screws.

3.02 SCHEDULE

A. Provide the following interior signs: [provide complete list of required signs including text and symbols, if any. Indicate sizes and quantity of each.]
