PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. This section includes the following:
Room signs.
Products supplied in this section are to be installed by others.

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's descriptive literature and specifications, including color samples of material for selection, as applicable for approval.

B. Submit shop drawings listing sign styles, lettering and locations, and overall dimensions of each sign.

C. Submit full size sample sign of type, style and color specified including method of attachment.

D. Manufacturers must submit 3 references showing comparable products for projects completed within the last 5 years.

E. Submit manufacturer's standard warranty information.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURER

2.02 FABRICATION

A. Signs shall have the following characteristics:
Tactile characters/symbols shall be raised 1/32" from sign plate face.
Signs shall be of one-piece construction; added-on and/or engraved characters are unacceptable.
Text shall be accompanied by Grade 2 Braille on signs requiring Braille.
All letters, numbers and/or symbols shall contrast with their background - either light characters on a dark background or dark characters on a light background. Characters and background shall have matte finish.

B. Sign plaque material shall consist of [insert material], approximately 1/8" [or specify thickness of material] thick, with background painted a contrasting color. [List any other characteristics of material].

C. Lettering style shall be [name of typestyle], upper case [or upper and lower].

D. Sizes of letters and numbers shall be as follows:
Room numbers shall be 5/8" high [or specify height].
Lettering for room usage and directional identification shall be 5/8" high [or specify height].
Lettering for restroom identification shall be 5/8" high, corresponding symbols shall be 3" high [or specify height].

E. Letters and numbers shall be centered [or specify location] on sign.

F. Grade 2 Braille for signs requiring Braille shall be placed directly below last line of letters or numbers [or specify location].

G. Specify corner style.

H. Sign sizes:
Restroom signs shall be 6" x 8" [or specify dimensions].
Directional signs shall be 6" x 6" [or specify dimensions].
Room identification signs shall be 6" x 6", 8" x 6" or 10" x 3" [or specify dimensions].
Room number signs shall be 6" x 2" [or specify dimensions].
Room identification signs with 5" x 1" opening for occupants name shall be 6" x 6". Insert shall be 5-9/16" x 1-1/8" [or specify dimensions] [or specify number and/or dimensions of inserts].

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. General: Locate sign units and accessories where indicated, using mounting methods of the type described and in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Install signs level, plumb, and at heights indicated.

B. Mount using methods indicated below [specify method below].
Vinyl foam tape.
Holes and screws.

3.02 SCHEDULE
