A) 1300 Wood Frame System
3/4” oak or walnut wood framed signs. An elegant finishing touch for any executive suite or office complex. Choose from our attractive and durable MP Plastics or our satin or polished metals for inserts. 1/8” MP Plastic inserts can have lettering and Braille utilizing the Graphic Blast® process and conforming to ADA. As with all of BEST custom signs, corporate logos and other graphics are available also. Modules can be any size; signage shown is 18" x 6" overall dimensions.

B) 1400 Wood Frame System

Oak or walnut wood base with full 1/2” rolled edges and 1 1/2” radius corners. Inserts are inlaid into wood and attach magnetically or with vinyl foam tape. Standard mounting is blind keyhole slots. Inserts available in any standard material. Modules can be any size.

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's descriptive literature and specifications, including color samples of material for selection, as applicable for approval.

B. Submit shop drawings listing sign styles, lettering and locations, and overall dimensions of each sign.

C. Submit full size sample sign of type, style and color specified including method of attachment.

D. Manufacturers must submit 3 references showing comparable products for projects completed within the last 5 years.

E. Submit manufacturer's standard warranty information.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURER

2.02 FABRICATION

A. Raised Plastic Signs shall be Best's 1300 Wood Frame System with a construction style having the following characteristics:
Tactile characters/symbols shall be raised 1/32" from sign plate face. Signs shall be of one-piece construction; added-on and/or engraved characters are unacceptable.
Text shall be accompanied by Grade 2 Braille.
All letters, numbers and/or symbols shall contrast with their background - either light characters on a dark background or dark characters on a light background. Characters and background shall have matte finish.
Frame shall be Best's 1300 Wood Frame System.

B. Sign plaques:
Plaque material shall consist of melamine plastic laminate, approximately 1/8" thick, and rated non-static, fire-retardant and self-extinguishing. Plastic laminate will be impervious to most acids, alkalies, alcohol, solvents, abrasives and boiling water.
Lettering style shall be Helvetica Medium, upper case, or other sans serif or simple serif typeface.
Sizes of letters and numbers shall be as follows:
Room numbers shall be 5/8" high.
Lettering for room usage and directional identification shall be 5/8" high.
Lettering for restroom identification shall be 5/8" high, corresponding symbols shall be 4" high.
Letters, numbers and symbols shall be centered on sign, except for directory, which shall be 1" left margin.
Grade 2 Braille shall be placed directly below each line of letters or numbers.
Corners shall have 1/4" radius.

C. Sign frames:
Frame material shall consist of 3/4" solid [insert oak or walnut wood].
Wall width shall be 1/2".
Outside radius corners shall be 7/8", inside radius shall be 3/8".
Face edges of frame wall shall be rolled 1/8".
Reveal between inside frame wall and sign shall be 1/8".

D. Sign sizes:
Room name signs shall be 12" x 6" overall [or specify size].
Restroom and other symbol signs shall be 7-1/4" x 9" overall [or specify size].
Room name and number signs shall be 18" x 6" [or specify size].
Directories shall be 18" x 18" [or specify size].
Room number signs shall be 6" x 6" [or specify size].

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. General: Locate sign units and accessories where indicated, using mounting methods of the type described and in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Install signs level, plumb, and at heights indicated.

B. Mount using methods indicated below [specify method below].
Blind mount keyhole slots.
Vinyl foam tape.
Holes and screws.

3.02 SCHEDULE
