Best Sign Systems, quick sign and economical signs

BEST Standard Word & Picture (WP) signs have raised or engraved symbols as shown. Typestyle is Standard Medium; copy is raised 1/32" and a minimum 5/8" high. Grade 2 Braille is available for ADA compliance where necessary. Universal symbols can be enhanced with bilingual copy (specify language and, for other than Spanish, include message as it is to appear on sign). Graphics are available with custom messages.

Materials:
For ADA compliant raised copy and Braille, the standard material is MP Plastic. Also available at extra charge are hardwoods and fiberglass. The fiberglass is especially suited for exterior use. See our material specs. page for details.

Also available, but not ADA compliant, are satin finish brass, bronze, or stainless steel with surface oxidized symbols and copy (raised copy and Braille are not available in metals).

Colors:
All "MP" colors , for raised area, are available at no additional cost. When using fiberglass, raised area colors are available in the fiberglass colors . Recessed area colors can be custom matched for a one-time charge.
Mounting:
1/16" vinyl foam tape is standard. Ceiling or wall brackets are also available.

Size:
All signs are 6" x 8" x 1/8" thick. Fiberglass and MP Plastic are also available in 1/4" thickness. Hardwoods are 3/4" thickness.

OTHER OPTIONS

Arrows:
WP's with arrows can be ordered with or without arrow. If arrow is required, please specify direction right or left.

Bilingual:
Utilizing two languages: add suffix B to part number and specify language. Example: WP247B (Spanish).
Braille (ADA Compliant):
Raised Grade 2 Braille message in addition to language. Add suffix RB to part number. Example: WP247RB.

Wall or Ceiling Mount:
Add suffix W or C. Available with copy on both sides. Specify copy one or two sides. For wall mount, show bracket on left or right.

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. This section includes the following:
Word and Picture signs.
Products supplied in this section are to be installed by others.

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's descriptive literature and specifications, including color samples of material for selection, as applicable for approval.

B. Submit shop drawings listing sign styles, lettering and locations, and overall dimensions of each sign.

C. Submit full size sample sign of type, style and color specified including method of attachment.

D. Manufacturers must submit 3 references showing comparable products for projects completed within the last 5 years.

E. Submit manufacturer's standard warranty information.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURER

2.02 MANUFACTURED UNITS

A. Raised Plastic Signs shall be Best's Word & Picture Signs with a three-in-one construction style having the following characteristics:
Tactile characters shall be raised 1/32" from sign plate face. Signs shall be of one-piece construction; added-on characters are unacceptable.
Text shall be accompanied by Grade 2 Braille.
All letters, numbers and/or symbols shall contrast with their background - either light characters on a dark background or dark characters on a light background. Characters and background shall have matte finish.

B. Plaque material shall consist of melamine plastic laminate, approximately 1/8" thick, and rated non-static, fire-retardant and self-extinguishing. Plastic laminate will be impervious to most acids, alkalies, alcohol, solvents, abrasives and boiling water.

C. Lettering style shall be Standard Medium, upper case.
If Grade 2 Braille is required, add suffix RB to part number.
If bilingual message is required, add suffix B to part number.
If copy required on 2 sides, specify.

D. If edge mounted to wall, add suffix W to part number [specify bracket on right or left].

E. If ceiling mounted, add suffix C to part number for ceiling bracket.

F. Corners shall be square.

G. Sign size shall be 6" x 8".

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. General: Locate sign units and accessories where indicated, using mounting methods of the type described and in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Install signs level, plumb, and at heights indicated.

B. Mount using methods indicated below [specify method below].
Vinyl foam tape.
Holes and screws.

3.02 SCHEDULE
